Recording Your Military Discharge Document

The Delaware County Recorder of Deeds will scan and record a veteran's DD-214 or other documentation for separation from the military. Hours are 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. daily. The Veteran should bring all separation documents along with a photo ID. The document copies are only accessible by the Veteran, his or her family or authorized military personnel.

Veterans Discount Card

The Veterans Discount Card will be issued by the Recorder of Deeds to any veteran who is discharged under honorable conditions and will certify that you have provided the necessary documentation that supports your military service. You will need to provide a copy of your DD-214, or equivalent military discharge document issued after 1950.

If a veteran's DD214 does not designate that character of separation or service was under honorable conditions, the DD214 must be accompanied by a document such as a copy of an honorable discharge to demonstrate that the veteran's character of separation or service was under honorable conditions to receive a Delaware County Veterans Discount Card.

Obtaining a copy of discharge documents

Recorded copies of discharge papers are available in our office.  They are only accessible by the Veteran, his or her family or authorized military personnel.

Veterans who cannot locate their DD-214 or other separation documents (and a copy is not on file in our office) can get an application from the Delaware County Veterans Affairs Department to acquire a copy of the discharge document from the National Military Personnel Records Center.
